On the eve of Tokyo gubernatorial election, in a heaviest snowstorm in several decades, two former prime ministers have just made campaign speeches. Junichiro Koizumi advocated a concept of “nuclear-free country” and 2020 Olympic games without nuclear power. Morihiro Hosokawa said he announced his candidacy for the election to correct the absurdity of new energy policies of Abe cabinet that base nuclear power on national “essential” electricity supply.
To my subjective amazement, I certainly saw, in the audience, a face of top echelon of Abe administration. I mean that kind of disaffection from Abe and his LDP shall determine the outcome of the decisive final voting tomorrow.
